How To Do Calla Lily Arrangements

Hi. My name is Alexandra Lyons and I'm a master florist. I create floral displays for celebrity homes, events, weddings and special occasions.

I'm going to share some tips with you on flower arranging. I'm going to show you how to do a Calla Lily arrangement. You will need a tall glass clear vase with a little water in the bottom.

I've placed some stones in here so that it covers the bottom. Just make it look slightly nicer. We need some Calla Lilies - it's not easy to say - and some bamboo, some curly, wacky bamboo and also some bullion wire here.

Calla Lilies are very good to have inside a glass vase, either a globe or a tall one. If you're placing them inside a globe, you can just manipulate them by rubbing the back and this encourages them to curve around. You can get quite good curves on them if you keep on going.

But I want them straight today. I'm going to wire them onto some bamboo. Gently place the lily inside.

This will hold the lilies upright. Their stems tend to last not as long as the flowers. The flowers last a long time.

The stems, because they're very fleshy, they tend to rot. So for that reason, we've only got a little water in here also and I'm going to place some flower food in. Firmly but gently wind the wire around so you're biting onto it but you're not cutting through.

I'm just going to tie this around here and you just want to start with your shortest one at the bottom because it's difficult to get your hands past once you place the taller ones in. I don't think I'm tall enough. See, it holds up very nicely against the vase with the bamboo.

Next, we'll place the middle one in. Leave them upright, they look like they're growing, and then, the last one. I need to cut that a little.

That's it, and gently place it in. If you can get it past that bit of bamboo there, that will be good. There we go.

Then put the flower food in also. It will help keep the water clear as well. And this is how to do a Calla Lily arrangement. .
