How To Do Coloured Gel Nails

Hello my name is Laura Bliss. I've been a nail technician now for the past 12 years. I'm currently teaching at The London College of Beauty Therapy on the nail courses there.

So I'm going to show you how to do colour gel over natural nail. So first we start off with just a clear coat of gel; it's like a base coat. You can only use these gels, silicone gels, over the natural nail; it's not strong enough to go over a tip.

Ok, that goes into the lamp for about 2 minutes. Ok, so I've taken that out I'm going to start applying my colour. You roll it up into the nail first.

Push it up to the cuticle and leave a nice margin all the way around the cuticle. And then that cures for 2 minutes. So I'm now going to put a second coat on and make sure on the second coat that your colour is really even.

And then that goes in for another 2 minutes. Just make sure that you're not keeping the gel next to the lamp, next to the light because it will set the gels in their pots. Ok, take it out for the second time and just wipe over to remove the sticky residue, and just apply a top coat.
