How To Do Feather Stitch
Feather stitching is an easy technique that can add a different texture to sewing projects, particularly those that feature a nature theme. This VideoJug demonstration shows precisely how to properly execute the stitch.
I'm now going to show you how to do a feather stitch. Feather stitch looks great as foliage or little branches, trees, anything like that. It can also look a little bit like coral.
Here we are, so I'm going to start again. So I come up through, then I'm going to move down, and come back up, catching my working thread like so. And then I'm going to move down, catch my working thread, then move across to the other side.
Moving down, catching my working thread, moving down and across. You go from side to side, and you can go nice and close, smaller stitches. Or you can do long stitches.
Again, it's completely dependent on what you're trying to achieve. And that is feather stitch. I just realized I've taken off, I'll finish it.
To finish that off, we need to anchor this last stitch down, so we're going to go back into the back of my fabric. And then I can pull and tie a knot, or you can weave your thread back through your stitches if you prefer. And that's how you do a feather stitch. .
