How To Do Gel Nails
This is a short video presented by a teacher at the London College of Beauty. Ms. Bliss explains how to apply gel nails during a manicure.
Hello, my name is Laura Bliss. I've been a nail technician for the last 12 years. I'm currently teaching at the London College of Beauty Therapy on the nail courses there.
I'm going to show you how to do gel nails and tips. I've already prepped the nails, taking off the shine and putting a tip on. First of all, apply a primer just to the natural nail and up to the tip.
Then with either clear or pink gel, I'm going to use pink. With your nail brush, pick up some gel, a fair amount, roll it off the brush first of all, onto the tip and then just lightly dab it over the whole nail. Again, pick up a nice size bead and roll it off the brush first.
Push it up to the cuticle and then just dab it around the nail wall, making sure you leave a nice margin all the way around the nail. Hold the hand over to make sure it all goes to the center, creating a nice C curve and then pop it into the lamp. There are two coats of gel on there.
I've taken it out from under the lamp for the second time. Now just wipe it with the nail polish remover to make sure the stickiness is gone and then just file to make sure the lamp is okay, the shape's okay.
