Brett McDonald, a teacher at Saco Schools and Academies, demonstrates on a model the best hairstyle for an oval face. McDonald explains that an oval shape is the most attractive shape and the easiest to style.
How to choose the best style for an oval face. When choosing the best style for an oval face, you're lucky as the oval face is already the most desirable face shape to look for when creating a hairstyle. When choosing the best style, I would look at key features of the face to help work out the best shape.
Things like nose, eyes, and chin on an oval face are areas where we can detract from or add to the look of the individual. For example, with our model here, she has a lovely eye socket area and a beautiful profile into the nose. So, by working with a shorter shape coming away from the face, it exposes the profile and again encourages that oval shape to sit nicely.
Oval shapes, as I mentioned, are the easiest to work on, therefore can tend to carry shorter, more dramatic shapes. What I would be cautious of with oval shapes is being aware of brow heights and forehead heights. Sometimes, what you want to do is encourage a little bit more width and a bit more volume in this area.
Therefore, the use of hair moving across the face and opening up the top corner of the brow will just add an element of more width, and an element of more height. And again, encourage that shape to look the best. Also, with an oval shape, putting too much weight down right on the point of the chin can sometimes have a too long or too elongating feel.
So, sometimes, shapes that are a little more mid or something that is much longer with a fringe work particularly well. However, too much of an A-line face can sometimes make the chin look slightly pointy. And that is how to choose the best hairstyle for an oval face. .
