I'm going to show you how to do a hairstyle for homecoming. We are going to create a soft, romantic and almost fairy-tale hair. It will have quite a bit of volume, all the way from the face and nice, long, flowing hair in the back.

Start by sectioning the hair. Leave about 2 to 2 1/2 inches from the front part. You'll decide your part first.

The part will be from ear to ear, over the crown. With the end of your brush or comb, take a section, about 1 1/2 to 2 inches above the ear, and follow all around the head to the other ear in a horseshoe section. After you have sectioned the hair in a horseshoe shape, you are going take the first section to be backcombed about 1 centimeter in.

Brush through the hair so that there are no knots before you start. Take the section for backcombing and hold completely up. Start halfway with the brush/comb and push down.

Doing it this way is the best way to backcomb the hair. It may look like a mess, but it is actually the best way to give your hair the volume you need. You will then smooth it out.

Work your way through until you get to the section marked around the ears. Next, take the last section of backcombing from the crown forward to the ear-to-ear mark. Gently smooth it out.

It does not matter if it is not too neat at this point. Take a section from the front and gently smooth out without ruining the backcombing and brushing it gently until it is in the shape you want. It completely depends on how much volume you would like to have.

You can have a huge volume or just a little bit. We're going to go with quite a bit. Now, holding the hair with your finger and thumb, pin the hair in.

Make sure it is on the scalp and also through the hair as well. Again, pin the other side. With thick hair, you will probably need double the pins if it is really thick hair.

Next, we are going to pin the sides up. The other side is already pinned up. With the other side, you might need to do in two sections being that there is a lot more hair on this side with the part.

For flyaway hairs, use a little hairspray on the root area. Too much hairspray will make the hair appear greasy or oily. Brush it though very gently.

And when you reach the back where there is a substantial amount of hair and pins, find a place and pin the hair in. Repeat with the front section. Again, repeating brushing out and pinning.

You will want it to be really sleek and smooth on the front. For flyaway, use a tiny amount of hairspray and glide your finger over the top. A good way to finish this style off and to make it more interesting is to use a little sparkle.

It adds a little glitz and glamor for your homecoming. It just finishes it off. If the curls or waves get dislodged or if it is looking a little flyaway in sections, take a flat bristle brush and smooth sections gently onto your hand.

And again, if the hair has flyaway, like on a hot day, use just a little hairspray. Add just by adding little finishing touches with sparkle and controlling flyaway - your homecoming hair. .
