Hydrangea flowers make a great bouquet by themselves, and master florist Alexandra Lyons makes them better with a few simple arrangement tips to add sparkle to your home or business space.
Hi, my name is Alexandra Lyons and I'm a master florist. I create floral displays for celebrity homes, events, weddings and special occasions. I'm going to share some tips with you on flower arranging.
I'm going to show you how to do hydrangea arrangement. You'll need a nice vase, a simple vase, maybe match the colors in, three hydrangeas, some fatsia leaves, and chicken wire. I'm just going to get some water.
Hydrangeas like a lot of water, and before you use them, you should spray them or dip them in water. I'm going to spray these ones. They take a lot of water in through their petals.
Right, the chicken wire, this was used before floral foam was invented, and it's the best thing, I find, in a vase or a cot, you're arranging flowers where you can't see the chicken wire or the workings. We're just going to place that in. We're going to cut the stems of the fatsia and place them around the rim of the vase.
Point them in towards the center of the vase, and everything you do should be in a spiral that helps hold the flowers together, long cut with a knife or scissors. I'm keeping some of the foliage on these even though they take a lot of water instead of the flower because they add to the design and just place them in. If you want to try a bit of sparkle, we can put some glitter on this as well.
I'll just go get it. This is spray glue. You can find it in craft shops.
You can put a little spray there; it doesn't harm the flowers at all. Now, for the shake, and sprinkle it on. It catches the light nicely.
And this is how to do hydrangea arrangements. .
