How To Do Kinky Twist Braids

Be an expert in braids. This short video shows you how to do kinky twist braids and look funky with that hairstyle.

Hi, welcome to the Braiding Art Academy. My name is Lauralyn, and we're going to be demonstrating some techniques on different hairstyles today on Afro hair and European hair. I'm now going to do an Afro kinky twist.

It'll be an extension Afro kinky twist on natural hair. As you can see, I've taken the length of extension hair and I've added it to the natural hair, then now splitting the hair to turn it into free strands. Split the hair so you can get a secure braid.

Braid one on to the scalp, braid twice into the scalp, and then take the side that you split in two, roll it around into one piece. You'll then be taking the other piece, beginning your two transfers all the way down the hair shaft. You can probably see I'm actually doing a double roll in my thumb, this is the piece where the natural hair and the kinky meet, and allows you to wrap it in easier.

And you continue to wrap and roll all the way down to the end of the hair shaft. As you can see, the root is secured, it's not slipping. Let's continue on all the way down, all the way down to the end until you have insufficient strands to continue the roll, and then you basically roll it in between your two fingers with a quick palm roll to finish off the look.

Okay, so this is how you do the Afro kinky twist with the extension on the hair. I've used two types of hair, the original Afro kinky here and the blonde, and as you can see here, we've also used the normal jumbo hair in the back. As you can see, this is two different types of hair and they'd be very well able to work with natural hair and relaxed hair.
