How To Do Long Stitch
When you are hand sewing, you might want to use a long stitch to fill space in a crease or a fold. Watch this video to learn how to create the perfect long stitch.
I'm now going to show you how to do a long stitch. A long stitch is used to fill in a space. It can look good as a crease or a fold.
It's quite textured. The best way to do it is to use quite a thick thread. So I'm using my embroidery floss, and I'm using all six strands, okay, and I'm going to come up and then I'm going to go down.
Now, it doesn't matter. You can decide how long you want your long stitch to be. If you make it too long, it may lift too far off the fabric.
So don't make them much longer than that. You can make them shorter. Then I'm going to come up now, just a square above, and then I'm going to go down a square above.
So, the long stitches are parallel to one another. Now, I'm going to come up a square above and down. And now, I'm going to work my way back down again, coming up a square down and going back in a square down.
And that, essentially, is long stitch. .
