Tips and tricks on how to create the pin-up look and make the most of your gorgeous features.
I'm going to be doing a 1950's inspired pin-up makeup look that is Katy Perry's go-to. We're going to start, we're going to work from the top to the bottom. We're going to start with the eyes, add some eyelashes, do the cheeks, and then the lips.
First, I'm going to put some eye shadow primer on to make the eyes matte in a uniform colour. I'm going to start with a neutral skin toned eye shadow that I'm going to put all over the eyelid as a wash. The next step if I'm going to put a darker eye shadow into the crease of the eye, right over here just to give it a bit more depth, pretty simple and straight at the moment.
But this one, I'm actually going to use a bronzer, a matte bronzer, a brown matte bronzer, just very simple. Brush that and make gentle, gentle circles into the crease which is where the eyelid creases. I'm going to go back now, and on the bottom of the eyelid, I'm going to take a really pale peach colour and gently, just to give it that extra highlight, because makeup is very versatile and you can use different makeup's on different parts of your face.
For example, as I just used bronzer on the eye. I'm actually going to take a highlighter and use it underneath the brow just to give it that extra bit of an arch. Just add that under the eyebrow.
Next, what we're going to do is we're going to do that all ever elusive winged eye with an eyeliner. I'm just taking a plain black gel eyeliner with a long eyeliner brush, dipping it in, twirling it around so that it gets all over all of the bristles, and I 'm going to pull her eye, just very, very gently so that it's stretched out and just start in the middle and pull it across. And now, I'm using a finer brush to just get that extra wing on the outside as fine as possible.
I'm just going to take a regular black eyeliner to line the bottom half of the eye and the water line, take that all the way up. And if you've made any mistakes, take some concealer and just cover it up. Next, what I'm going to do is put mascara on.
The best way to put mascara on is to look down and put it on, and then, just brush out over the top first because a lot of the times, you'll have some eye shadow from your eye makeup on the top of your lashes. Then, just pull it up and just jiggle it. The next part is the lashes.
Fundamental part of the pin up look, you must have lashes. So, what you want to do is close your eyes and just measure the size of the lash strip to see whether it fits your eye lid, which it does. If it doesn't, you want to cut from the inner corner rather than the outer corner because the outer corner, you need the "featheries".
What I like to do for the lashes while the glue is setting a little bit is just curve them so that they fit and they stick to your eyelid because your eyelid, as you know, is curved. So, you want to get them curved. What you need to do with lash glue, you can't place the lashes as soon as you put the glue onto the face because it will just be too wet and it will slide around.
So, what you want it to do is you want it to wait for thirty seconds or until you feel it's sticky to the touch. White glue will actually turn clear and what you could also do is just do another coat of eyeliner on top of that, just to make sure it's covered. So, we've done the other eye now and now, we're going to go on to do cheeks.
I'm actually going to take a little bit of a bronzer and a little bit of peach, just going to take a little bit of the bronzer, swirl it around, tap it off, and then a couple of dabs of the peach. Suck your cheeks in and you just want to get under the cheek bone, and just really blend it into the cheeks so that you get that high cheek bone. I'm just also going to take the same highlighter I used underneath the eyebrow to highlight on top of the cheek bones so they have more prominence, they're lifted.
Bring it up to the temple. Before you put lipstick on, what you want to do is to moisturize the lips, so that's
