Hi, my name is Desmond Aspill and I have been teaching gymnastics for twenty years. And today, we are going to break down some of the difficult elements of gymnastics so that it is more approachable. With technique gymnastics, we try to make things more approachable, filled in confidence and make gymnastics work.
When doing any kind of split, you really need to warm up the body extending the muscles to the maximum. So we are going to start up by stretching the hamstring, touching hands to the floor and extending the hamstring as long as it can go. Get down to one knee, put forward the leg opening up the pitch, bringing up the leg straight forward.
Straighten the front leg, push the front leg forward. Once again let's say, step-by-step of the split, you need to go at start of the ham, aim at that is to support yourself while doing that. So what you can do is to get some cushion for, let's say a soft rug.
Put one leg outside and get down half-way. Once you are at this section, you can go further and further taking your time until you make all your leg down to the floor. And stretching the chords to their maximum, by pulling your back foot to up, pulling it towards the bottom.
For the hamstring stretch, you need to stretch the front leg extend your body forward close your shoulder towards the front knee.
