How To Draw A Boat

Hi. I am Lyn Stone I am a professional illustrator and today I am going to show you how to draw a sailing boat and you will need a pencil, a ruler and a rubber for this one. OK so, using a ruler I want you to draw a diagonal line in a piece of paper and I am going to draw a line coming across like I said.

Then we are going to connect those two lines up. We are going to come across and down and this is going to become one of the sails in a boat.

Next I want you to draw another line is diagonal which it parallel rather, with the line you have just drawn.

So, we are going to come across here like it. So, then about here I want you to draw as if it looks a little bit like a Shark fin we are about to draw in shape. We come across and we come down like so little bit like a Shark fin OK like that.

Next we need to draw, the base of the boat so, we need a little bit coming down at the back need the ruler again to draw the back of the boat. And you might find it easier to use the ruler to do the other side as well just the first picked. Like that, off course that, OK then we need to do the front.

So, using this original ruled line up to about there we then come to about back. Then we need to join those two up across here. You might need to come in a little bit on that edge like.

So, then you need to use a ruler to come down and an acute angle here you to come in like that and then the bottom needs to taper in woods like that. So, using your ruler again we need to draw a line just on the inside of the original one and then just on the outside of the original one. We then need to draw two bottom sections here the bottom of the sails it comes across into up crossing up and the same on how Shark fin which is to bottom being there.

OK, now add even more detail to the boat drawing parallel with original line you have created go all the way around the edge like so. OK, just like that and I am just going to add a little bit of shading into here like so and other moment is sitting on a piece of paper it needs to be in the water. So, what I am going to do is I am actually going to rub out the bottom of this boat little bit at the front and I am going to add in the frost of some sea water it's actually pouring through the water here as well.

And obviously at this stage if you want to add some colour you can do whatever design you want to put on the sails, but that's really basically how to draw a sailing boat. .
