How To Draw A Cartoon Lion

Make your lion roar off the page with VideoJug's help. Cartoonist Stephen Marchant from London's Cartoon Museum, shows you how to draw a cartoon lion the VideoJug way.

Step 1: Rough outline

First of all draw a large circle for the head. As the lion is the king of the jungle, give him a large masterful chest. Draw his arms and legs to suggest a proud stance. Next draw on two feline ears and a spectacular mane. Check your pencil outline before you carry on.

Step 2: Details

When you're happy with the outline, start to add details to his face. Start with the ears and then his mane. Give him powerful arms and paws. Give your lion a menacing glare by drawing the eyebrows first, then the eyes, nose and mouth. Draw on a couple of strong lions legs with big paw-like feet. Last but not least, give your lion a long tail.

There you go - a cartoon lion.
