How To Draw A Teddy Bear
Illustrator Simbie Yau shows different ways to draw a teddy bear. She shows variations of how to draw it to make your own teddy bear unique.
Hi, I'm Simbie Yau. I'm an illustrator, graduated from University of Lincoln. Today I am just going to be showing you how to draw objects.
I'm going to now demonstrate how to draw a teddy bear. Where I'll start is, you know, using a pencil, draw an ellipse or an egg-shaped head, just a rough guideline really. Or you could draw a circle, anything really, this is how I choose to do it.
Then the body, just another circle, just be quite expressive. And then, drawing the arms. Teddy bears can look, you know, different, depending on like what shapes you choose to draw, and this is just a basic guideline.
I am just going to do like, a foot, instead of an entire leg. And you could probably choose to draw a leg as well, like so. And I'll go over this with a pen.
I'm just drawing like, a rough guideline. Quite close to the bottom of the first ellipse that you draw, I will draw another ellipse, and you can just mark off where you want the eyes and stuff, so I've chosen right here. I will now draw the nose, somewhere near the center.
Doesn't have to be straight, nothing is symmetrical about this drawing. That will be the rough guideline, so I will get all my pens out. How I will draw this, is to add more characters.
I might try to create fur by creating lines that flick out like this. Just using the lines to follow, the pencil lines to follow around the pen. It's always best to use pencil first to draw out a rough guideline, then nothing's permanent until you draw over it really.
I mean, this is the leg, and the bottom of the teddy bear. I will probably use a thinner pen to add detail. And then the eyes, where I will just make little buttons for eyes, or just make some empty space and just color around.
You could add more details by perhaps drawing a button, just play around with it really. A little button, or you could apply stitching, if you want to add more details, you can make the shape of his foot, like so, with a thinner pen. You just draw little lines to suggest stitches.
Gives it a little more character. Or you could choose not to, or just leave the line, and this is how to draw a teddy bear, okay?.
