I'm Mik, Mik Brown from miko-illustration.com and miko-cartoon.com.

And now I'm going to show you how to draw a few animals. Let's get drawing. And now, I'm going to show you how to draw an elephant.

Alright, it's always starting off with a round circle for the head and another round circle, larger circle for the body. We get the proportion of these characters right. Of course, when you're drawing a cartoon or a fantasy, imaginary creature then of course, you're creating your own proportions.

But in this case, it's dictated by the shape of the animal. They're quite creased, aren't they? So they're sort of nice and flexible with their trunks. So we put the little creases in and sort of hard creases in and make it rather more interesting.

Where their tusks join their heads, they sort of part, shading now, let's start drawing the rest of the body now. Again shading is good. It gets a nice bit of form and shape to the animal.

I'm drawing from a photograph. This elephant is standing in some grass, so it doesn't give me reference for the elephant's foot. It's good to be accurate.

You normally draw from memory perhaps, but copying from a photograph with mountain in the background, I just said to get the animal correct. It's important to use good reference and then you know that you're drawing it properly. There we go, and that is how to draw an elephant. .
