How To Draw Goofy

Hello, my name is Jamie Sale. I'm a freelance cartoonist from Essex and I'm going to be teaching you how to draw cartoons. This is how we draw Goofy.

First of all, this is going to be the top part of his head where his eyes are and then you draw another shape here which is going to eventually represent the top of his mouth and this shape here will eventually represent the bottom of his mouth. Goofy would also be wearing a hat so it's important to get in the shape for that as well. So it's just a slightly circular shape on top of the head, two lines there and another circular shape here and a second shape there.

We're also going to have one of his arms in this picture, so we're going to need his hand there on that shape, and now, we will start building the face. So, draw his nose there and while we're going around here, this needs to go up towards the nose a little bit and then the same here on the other side as well, so we're going to work it now a little bit. And then, we'll put his ears in.

One of his ears goes there and the other one goes there. Goofy's eyes are actually sort of merged together, so they kind of go up into sort of a heart shape at the top, and he's got two pupils there like that. Then we put in his signature goofy teeth, also this bottom part of his bottom lip and here is the top part of his bottom lip.

We just put the tongue and we will shade this part of the mouth. So now, we're going to line the rest of his head first. The shapes that you drew, you don't need to go around those shapes exactly, they are just a guide, so you're almost outlining his eyes.

And this is where you build the hat. So, using your guidelines, just pretty much go straight over them. This is where it goes around the hat, so obviously we're shading that.

There are tufts of hair coming out there as well. We'll just put on his eyes too. Okay, so now we're going to draw the rest of his body and we've still got his fluffy ears to do here.

But we need to have the body first, so we put a part of the neck in that just sneaks out from around down below the bottom lip. He's going to be wearing a big roll neck and then we're just going to draw a line for his arm going down there, and where that line is, build the arm up around there. And when you got the arm lined in, draw the jumper at around there.

So, it's slightly the same as around the collared neck, put in some creased rolled up sleeve and you get thicker down here. You don't have to worry about drawing any further than that, and next, we draw the hands and fingers. So, the palm of the hand is there.

This is now a little finger we're drawing, the middle finger, the top of the hand and finally the forefinger which will be touching his head, and his thumb sneaking there as well. But remember he's wearing gloves, so we're going to extend that hand a little bit there. This is now the shoulder, we'll just sketch in his braces, and to be much happier with that, you can go with everything a little harder.

This needs going over and then obviously, you don't want to forget his ears so this one's going to be sticking out from down there, hanging down there, and this one's going to come out as a little bit more around there, like that. And this is where you shade in all the dark bits. But with his nose, if you put a circle there, you're now not to shade in that bit so it makes it look reflective.
