How To Draw Manga - Angry
Artist Kyle teaches how to draw a Manga face with an angry expression.
Hi, I'm Kyle, I'm an illustrator and I'm going to take you through some tips on drawing manga and chibi. Okay, I'm gonna take you through how to draw a Manga face and I'm gonna draw someone who's angry. Okay, so I've got the basic guidelines of the face if you haven't drawn them before.
A big circle, line down, line across. That's where the middle of the ear is, and just your eyeline. You got the jawline coming in here, it's just a curve meeting upon just a little bit down from the bowl there and you've starting about that being the base of the skull and the neck meeting there.
We're not going to worry too much about that. Okay, so, first we'll just think about how what happens to the face when someone is angry. Just take plenty of reference, draw people as much as you can, have a little mirror, make the faces you want to draw as you go in is always good practice.
It kind of informs what you're doing. I'm just marking out the edges of where the eyes are going to be here. I always work in between the eyes just to keep the portion.
Okay, I'm just going to draw the halves like quite narrow eyes. Very, very angry character. So, just going to have to show that the eyelids come down that way on either side.
Here we go. Just going to draw just this here, fat eyelid there where it actually comes up. This character is really, really not happy.
Same on the other side. You can go as far as putting in just, just a little line just to show the wrinkle there of the eyelid underneath that. Aren't you going to break with habit and just going to only really show the lower part of the iris and pupil.
'Cause this kind of gives the impression that the character is looking from underneath their eyelids. They're really, really, not happy. We're just going to take the brow in, so the brow is actually usually just about in line with where the top of the ear meets the head.
Just come right sharp in. Don't be frightened to be quite about how much it comes in. You can really try and push it.
Here's just the ring course in the brow, where the brow meets the bridge of the nose. You can just see all the folds of the brow there, wrinkling up. It's actually going to have just the teeth.
Say here, try to keep the gender pretty much nonspecific on these ones, can apply it to show what gender you want really. Just thinking about how to curve the lip, the top lip raises a bit so it's just margin close to the nose, just a real, grimace there. Just bring in the sides of the lip there a lot.
The lower lip is actually pushed up a little bit. Show that extra little line just below. With this, you can show the line of the teeth there.
Sometimes also, I do occasionally and make round of the teeth curl, sometimes actually show just like the vaguest little hint of canine meeting there. It helps to show the character just absolutely ferociously angry, particularly with more comedy or a bit more lighthearted. So Manga characters just get this big ole vein that pops out on their forehead, and I was just adding just to show you what I mean, you know whenever this happens, it's usually big old red lines but just for the sake of this, I'll show you what I mean, whenever that little symbol shows up, someone's definitely cruising for it.
Just going to charge it a bit with a bit of a darker pencil, just take and see some better lines. And there you are, it's about done. So that's your Manga face with an angry expression. .
