How To Draw Manga Animals

Hi, I'm Kyle, I'm an illustrator and I'm going to take you through some tips on drawing Manga and Chibi. Right, I'm going to show you how to draw Manga animals. And I am going to show you how to draw a cat.

A lot of the time, Manga animals are drawn quite realistically even if the characters are done very simply, but cats tend to get stylized quite a lot. So I'm just going to show you how that tends to be done. I'm just going to start off with the lips and the shape of the head.

Okay, start mapping out where the ears are going to go eventually. Just there and just there. Think about where the cheeks or whatever you want to call that part are going to go.

So that is the head sort of mapped out. I am just going to draw in where the eyes are going to go. I am going to start mapping out the body a bit.

It's going to look almost like a little pear shape in the back there. Really simplify it down. You tend to see a lot of these cute simple cat characters in Manga.

Just going to take it down like that. Just basically start blocking it out at this time. Think about how there is a double joint on the back leg of a cat.

Really simplify, really simplify, I have probably done too much detail on there myself. Okay, so think about how it rounds off at the front there and there. So going to the mouth, just really simple.

There we go. And I'm just going to mark out a little sort of oblong, little "t" shape for the nose. And I'm going to make the eyes nice and big and cute, almost rounded sort of eyes.

Think about how there is a bit of a fall off there because that side of the face is tilting away. Just going to draw that leg in. There we go.

So the neck comes in. Just going to have him looking up. Just think about how that little sharp pupil wraps around the eye a little bit as it goes up to the top.

When compared to some real cute little cat characters, this is really quite detailed but tends to be really simple. Just going to a darker pencil, here, just to finish up with. And there you go. .
