I’m going to run through some of the basics first. I think one of the interesting things is that there is generally something like 8 heads to one full body and again the width of the shoulders is about one head on either side and then the hips which are half way down are another two on either side. It always looks rather big but looks better once I start joining things on. We don’t want to get into drawing the details just yet but just a couple of lines to show the eyes, nose and mouth; then we can start joining stuff up. So we go from the shoulders down to the waist and then the hips and now you can add your arms here and the legs down there. We’ll draw this one with a pair of trousers on right here. You can add some little ruffles which indicate the little ruffles of the material. There doesn’t have to be a great deal of detail. Another way to do this is draw a stick man, in any position you like, then flesh him out and give him a body with the right size shapes.
