How To Draw Snoopy
This is a video of a freelance cartoonist describing how to draw the cartoon character Snoopy, the dog. Following his directions step by step will allow you to easily draw this character.
Hello, my name's Jamie Sale. I'm a freelance cartoonist from Essex, and I'm going to be teaching you how to draw cartoons. We're going to draw Snoopy, the dog.
In order to draw Snoopy, we are going to start with a circle here to represent his nose and then we add a circle at the top here which will represent his head. These two circles will gradually be meeting each other so you want to smooth them off next to each other like that for the moment. Then, virtually meet them up here like that.
Then, draw in his neck shape here. What I do for this normally is, he's going to be sitting down, but if we just draw in the shape of his body as it sits, then draw one of his feet here and this will be his other foot. Then we add in his arm.
Then the legs. He's a very simple character to draw, Snoopy, so it's not too difficult. Then we put his collar in.
Put in his fingers which are just literally made up of lines, paws for his toes. Then next, we will work on his face. From the bottom of his face, roughly from where this circle line is here, his mouth comes up here quite vertically in a smile and for his eye, just a slash there, not a dot, just a slash.
And his nose sticks out of his face. He's got big droopy ears, but we're only drawing one of them because of the angle he's at. So we go over that a bit harder with the pencil.
Snoopy always tends to have a shiny nose and the best way to make it look shiny is to shade it in after leaving an outline of the shine, something like this. And his ear is partly black, it's got a bit of gap around here, that's a white gap, and then this represents the black part of his ear which again we'll just shade in. And that's how you draw Snoopy. .
