How To Draw Stewie
How To Draw Stewie
To draw cartoons, you have to be good with your hands and very gentle with the pencil, drawing the right strokes with the right angles and shapes.
Hello. My name is Jamie Sale. I'm a freelance cartoonist from Essex.
I'm going to be teaching you how to draw cartoons. I'm going to draw Stewie Griffin from Family Guy now. First of all, we'll start off with the basic shape of the head which is sort of a bit like a rugby ball.
You just sketch that in roughly first and then he has two pretty big eyes, set symmetrically apart from each other in either side of the face. He's got a bit of a triangle for a nose - half a triangle. You might need to adjust the face as you go along.
He's got downward kind of eyebrows and his eyes are slightly squinty. It's best to always have the pupils looking towards sort of the camera. And his ears go either side.
The furtherest ear is slightly smaller as that's the angle you're looking at it, so you fit his right hand side, his right earring fully and you see it, just a glimpse of his left ear. And you add the mouth in, the mouth is simply a case of just making a small overbite type. And then his hair, just kind of comes in from the back of his head on to the top of his head.
Like that. When I add the body in, I tend to make it out-shapes first so you've got a bit of a circle there which would represent his sort of belly area and just add another sort of tube-like shape here which will become his legs and some shape for the shoes and just extend the body as you go. He's going to be folding his arms in this one so I tend to pull the shoulders in - he's in circles leads to the elbows.
That will be his right hand and this is his left hand and I'll just kind of pencil a little. With Stewie as well, he wears dungarees so you need to add those in as well. And then you define his feet a little more.
Like that. And that's the draft pencil. And that's how to draw Stewie Griffin. .
