How To Draw Tall Anime Characters

Have you ever wanted to draw anime as efficiently as the pros? Well now you can with this short tutorial titled "How To Draw Short Anime Characters" by Laura Watton of Sweatdrop Studios. Check out her website at PinkAppleJam.com!

Hi, my name is Laura Watton. My website is PinkAppleJam.com.

I'm the co-founder of Sweatdrop Studios and I've been illustrating in manga style for almost 15 years. OK, this is how to draw a tall Manga character. It's always nice to plan how tall you're character is going to be.

A very tall character I think is 8 or 9 heads high. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. OK.

I'm going to roughly plot out where the character's head is going to be. This is where his shoulders will be. This is roughly a sphere, I'm going to use half the width to note where the character's shoulders are going to lie.

You don't have to adhere to this strictly, this is just a formula I tend to use when I'm drawing my characters myself. OK, I try to note the character's waist. That will be where the folds of his arms would be.

This will be roughly where the character's hands would lie, relaxed side-by-side. This is where the character's knee would be and this is where the character's feet would be. Very Roughly, O.

K. So enough facial details, add some creases around here where the elbows are. The character's knees would roughly be here.

That's quite a tall character. This character has the same details as these characters, it's just he is really tall of average build.
