How To Dress A Newborn

Hi, I`m Laura Campbell from Babyladies, and I`m going to be giving you some tips on how to clothe your newborn, and how to achieve the best for newborn. I'm going to talk a bit about how to dress your newborn. That is something that people can be quite scared off getting it wrong, and the best tip I can give you is better to be cold, than it is to be overheated.

So, what we are going to do, we are going to show you how to put a vest on. We, me and Dolly. So, I have got two types of vest here.

This is the one that opens out fully, and it's got lots and lots of poppers on it, but it's quite good for the newborn, because you have a flat surface to work from. So, I'm just going to hold baby up, and I'm going to put the baby vest down flat, I'm going to put baby in there, and I'm going to start of with her arms, easier with a real newborn, so I'm just going to put her arms in there, and her other arm in here. Just don't worry too much, you can't move them fault, just make sure that head is always supported.

There are ties, so I'm just going to pop a tie in there, pop her, and it's a tie again around this side, so I'm just going to tie this up, and then poppers underneath her legs. This is far too big for this baby, but you get the idea. You can even practice before baby is born, just to get a hang of it.

So this is easy as that to pop her in a baby glove. A really good tip is, with some products you get a list of what to put on baby for what temperature, especially comes with grow bag thermometers, and it will say, if the temperature of the room is cold, you should have two baby gloves on, or you should have a little jumper on its stomach, and it just gets you that reassurance and peace in mind, that your baby is dressed properly and correctly. If you are indoors, don't keep a hat on baby.

What we don't want to happen for baby is to overheat. So it's really simple to dress your baby. What I would do is have a simple baby glove, it's nice and comfy, it doesn't have any poppers, or labels or bits and pieces that can irritate baby.

It's really tempting to go around and buy the gorgeous little free fruit dresses and things, but they are not practical, and you are going to be changing newborn quite a few times during the day, so you want something that is easy to put on. With necks that that go over the top of the necks, so for example, with this baby gloves, they have got necks that you can open up wide, and pop over the baby's head. So you just want to make everything as simple as possible in your first two weeks. .
