How To Dress For Your Body Shape

This video serves as your guide to dressing for your body shape in a chic and flattering way.

Hi. I'm Zoe Lem, stylist and owner of My Sugarland, and today I'm going to give you some insider's tips on how to do fashion. I'm now going to show you how to dress for your body shape.

So, a lot of you make it complicated. I keep it simple .Three body shapes: we've got hourglass, pear shaped and straight up and down.

Hourglass, nipped in at the waist, shoulders and hips in line, so it's about going with your curve and celebrating that shape. So, nipping in and going for either pencil shape or you can get an A-line but balancing out on the shoulders with a little bit of width in the shoulder. Keeping the neckline low if you're bigger busted but nipping in on that shape.

Perfect hourglass. The second one is pear shaped. So, hips bigger than the shoulders, it's not about underneath the bust.

Most women think that if you're pear shaped, you have a small chest. It's not about that. It's about being small through the shoulders.

You look in the mirror and see if your shoulders and hips are so in line. If they are, you're not pear shaped, you just have a small bust. So, you want to bring the attention back in the shoulders, add in a gathering through the shoulders, going for jackets, going for darker colours on the shoulder, nipping in the waist but keeping this A-line on the skirt.

So, you're covering up the hips and covering up that bottom area but people don't see that it's creating illusion over the clothing. Straight up and down, you've got shoulders and hips up in line but no nip in through the waist so we're going to fake it. We're going to add attention to this hip.

You've got this pocket here that adds over the hip and makes you look bigger through the hip. But you've got the shoulders so it's balancing through the shoulders, balancing through the hips and creating this waist. So, we're adding a shape.

We're making it back to an hourglass. All of the body shapes are trying to create an hourglass shape. So whether you're doing out through your natural shape or whether it's for the clothing, it's very easy to do.

You can play so many tricks. It's just getting the right things. And that's how to dress for your body shape. .
