How To Drift On A Bmx

Drifting is a critical step when moving from one BMX trick to another. In this video, Gareth Wilson of Felt Bikes demonstrates how to properly drift a BMX bike.

In this video, we're going to learn how to drift on a BMX bike. Step 1: You're travelling faster than walking pace, turn in swiftly, and just pull your back brake. In turn, that's going to kick your back end out.

So, again, faster than walking pace. As you turn, pull your back brake, and you'll start sliding your back end out. Step 2: Once you've started the skid in step 1, use your inside leg and throw it out, which will make your back end skid further sideways, more like a drift.

So, that's again inside leg, throw it out just to kick your back end out wide. And that's step 2. Step 3: Now, we're in the skid.

Lean slightly forward and let off the brake. This will start the back wheel spinning, creating the drift motion. So, again, when you're in the skid, slightly forward, brake off, and that's step 3.

Just to recap, to keep that skid and angle, push your inside leg. Just throw it out a bit, just to fishtail the back end out, and that's going to keep you in the skid. The harder you do it, the more sideways you're going to go.

And that's how to drift on a BMX bike. .
