How To Drive Stick Shift
Take a ride with Reigate Garage owner, Nathan Hutchin, as he demonstrates the proper technique for driving a stick shift car.
In this video, I'm going to teach you how to drive stick shift. To start with, you have to get your key. Put it in the ignition.
Turn the ignition on, checking that the gear is in neutral by shaking it side to side. You need to start up your car, and then to start off with, push the clutch down to the floor, select the first gear by pushing it left and up. Bring your clutch pedal up until you feel the biting point which you'll feel it once it starts moving.
At that point is when you're going to need to take your handbrake off, and always remember to put your seat belt on, and start to use the accelerator and bring the biting point and the clutch pedal all the way up. Now, if the revs drop down too low, just change back one gear, and it will pick back up. Just changing down to stop then using the clutch to find the biting point again, and then the accelerator, and as you stop, take it out of gear by putting down the clutch making sure it's in neutral and pull up the handbrake and turn off the car.
That's how you drive a stick shift. .
