How To Drop In On A Skateboard Ramp
VideoJug user Professor Jim shows you how to drop in on a skateboard ramp. This can be a tricky move to carry out, but once you've mastered how to drop in on a skateboard ramp, you will be able to attempt some bigger and better skateboarding tricks.
Step 1: Basics
If you’re going to drop in, you need a few things. A skateboard, a helmet, elbow pads, knee pads, and a ramp.
Today we’re going to skate the ramp in my backyard. It’s a mini ramp, three feet tall and eight feet wide. You can find these plans free of charge on the following website.
Step 2: Skate Boarding Technique
Before you try and drop in, make sure you’re comfortable with transition and riding back and forth. Learn to pump and to jump on the transition, and which is in one motion.
The technique is that you jump up and then push down with both legs. Whichever leg goes higher on the transition, you push with. Jump, push, jump, push. Once you’re able to maintain your speed, then you’re ready to drop in.
Step 3: Transition
To drop in on a ramp, make sure your wheels are snug against the transition. You’re going to want to do this in a faster motion than I demonstrate, because the forward momentum will help you down the transition.
But what you do in a smooth motion is, you step forward on the front bolt of your skateboard, push forward with my foot and I go into the ramp. When it’s your turn to drop in on the ramp, don’t think about it too much. Just put your board up there, lean forward, step into it, and follow through.
Step 4: Kick Turn
To do a kickturn when you reached the top of the ramp, lift your front trucks off the ramp and turn. To initiate the turn you simply turn your front shoulder, and it will move your body for you. Turn with your shoulders. Turn your upper body. Flip your trucks and turn. Same thing front side.
