The word association I'm going to use with this is "Flats in Dagenham". Before you do it, say it rhythmically, "Flats in Dagenham, Flats in Dagenham." Now, first part of that sentence, "Flats" on the snare drum.
"In" - on the rack tom. "Dagenham," there's three syllables in Dagenham and that's going to be on the floor tom, "Dagenham, Dagenham." "Flats in Dagenham.
" Now, if you put that to a drum beat. Now at this point, try and use your imagination, keep the "Flats in Dagenham" but use different parts of the drum kit. So at the moment, we have.
Try and use both sticks.
So what I'm going to do now, I'll play a drum rhythm and at the end of that phrase I will do different variations on "Flats in Dagenham." .
