How To Embed Vimeo Videos

In this video, I'm going to talk about how to share a vimeo video on your webpage. Now, you may have created a video that's on vimeo, or there may have been a really great movie on vimeo that you want to show your friends. So, how do you embed a video? What you do is go to vimeo to where the video is showing, and go to the video and you'll see when you move your mouse over the video, there's an option to embed.

Click on the embed button, and what you'll see is a window that shows the code that needs to be embedded into the website. That's where you're going to be adding it. One of the nice features of vimeo is that you can actually customize the embedded code.

So, for example, you can choose the size of the video you want to add - that's fine, you can do that. There are also things, you can edit the text that's going to appear around it, colours around the window where the video is, that can all be done. Once you customize the appearance of the video, you want to share with your friends.

Copy the embed code, then you need to go to the webpage that your updating to paste that embed code. Now, what you need to remember is when you're editing a webpage, you need to go into the html or code mode of that page. And that's regardless of how you might be editing your webpage, you might be using Dream Weaver, you might be using a blog like Word press, you might be using a counter management system.

But all of those need to go into a mode that's often known as code or html. So, select with your cursor the place on your webpage where you want to insert the video. Go into html or code mode, and paste in the code that you want to add.

Once you've done that, go back to the regular mode of the webpage you're editing and save or publish that webpage. If we then go to the webpage that's been published, you'll be able to see that video but customized the way you want to customize it according to the size, colours, etc. And what you can do is now that that webpage has that embedded video on it, now, your friends that visit that webpage can share that video with their friends.

They can also then take the embed code and add it to their page. You also have the option to view the video in full screen mode by clicking on the arrows at the bottom of the video. You can also click on the vimeo logo, and that will take you back to the vimeo website where you can watch the initial video.
