How To Enable Task Manager

Task manager shows you all the applications and processes that a computer is running and how much better that computer can improve.

So, today, I will show you how to open up Task Manager and also a download for Windows which is also called Process Explorer which is essentially Task Manager with a lot more features. Task Manager is used to show you what is running on the computer and is also used to show you what is using memory, how much memory, and also how much network bandwidth is being used. So, first, we are going to look at the task manager window, there are two ways to get into it.

The easiest way, I think, is to go down to the task bar at the bottom. Right click and click Task manager and you can see it running. The other way is to do Ctrl + Alt + Del on the keyboard and that will also give you the option of starting the task manager.

So, if we just have a quick look on the task manager, there are a number of tabs on the top. We got the Application - these are the number of programs that are running at the moment. The processes - these are the separate little threads that are run by all different programs that are on windows.

You may find when you started out, it looked a lot less but if you show all processes from all users, it will show all things that are running on the computer. You can order the different sections so if I want to see what's using the most memory, it's this process here, and you can do the same on the process as well. You can see which process is using the most amount of space.

The other thing you can do is go to the services, so these are windows services. Again, you can see what is running here. You can have a look on the performance of the computer and you can see how much amount of memory the computer is using as well.

If you are trying to do more diagnostic and you need more information, there is a program called Process Explorer which originally came out on Windows XP. If you go to Google and type Process Explorer, it will take you straight to the website and you can download the folder here. So, we go to the folder and run Process Explorer.

What this will do is give you load more than task manager. So, you can see there is a lot more information already showing you how much bandwidth is being used. You can see that in Task manager, service host was using a lot of memory but in this program, allows you to drill down and see actually what is using that memory.

So, I just showed you how to open up Task Manager. Task manager is a great program for finding out what is running on the background because when sometimes the computer is slow, you can use it to kill some of the processes that are running to speed up the computer. And that is how to use Task Manager.
