How To Execute A Headfirst Slide In Baseball

Step 1: On Approach

You want to execute the headfirst slide by first lowering your body as you reach the bag. When you are about 8 feet away, extend your arms while launching yourself off of your back legs.

Step 2: Eat Dirt

When you hit the ground your body should be cushioned as your forearms, chest, and thighs hit the dirt at once.

Step 3: Grab The Bag

Keep your hands and head up as you reach for the bag, trying to avoid the location of the tag.
