I am going to talk to you today about some simple feng shui tips which will attract more love, harmony and opportunities into your life. Feng Shui is the ancient Chinese art of balancing your space so that you attract good things towards you. It's really about your luck, that's why you're doing it.

What do you need? The only thing that you really need is a simple compass. It could be very simple, something like that. I use something a little bit more complicated but basically they both do the same job.

If you put the compass in your palm and stand in the center of your hand, look where the needle, the painted part of the needle actually points and then rotate the base so that the painted part of the needle points north. When you have done that, you can then read off all the other compass directions. The one we are interested in this year is the southwest.

Why are we interested in the southwest this year? Basically, feng shui is about emphasizing the positive and dispersing the negative horizons which you can check elsewhere. Negative energies are considered to come from certain areas each year. This year, it's the southwest so you want to disperse in the southwest.

This means no mirrors, no red objects, no round gloss faceted crystal balls, anything that is an emphasis. You want the negative to go and you want to bring the positive in. After the third of February 2011, this area is going to be the east.

So, remember first of all, you stand in the center of your home with your compass and you find the Sha Chi area and then you can either put a plant in that area or, if you like, a wind chime. If you do not like wind chimes, you do not have to use one. An ice green plant will do.

So, that is the most technical part of the whole thing, the rest is really easy. What you want to think about when you think about your home is easy movement through it. This means you can easily go up and down the stairs through the passageways, the corridors, there is nothing that is blocking your movement that is the first thing.

The next thing you want to do is to make sure that your space is clean, clear and unclothed and that everything in there is you either love or you use. Now, people say to me, “Or what about something like Aunt Betty gave me that I can't stand?” And what I say is hide it until she comes around or give it away. You want everything in your space to be something you love or something you use.

If it is broken, fix it. These are all very simple things to do. They do not cost a lot of money.

To get a little compass, you may spend between 5 and 10 pounds. They are really simple ones, I think you spend only two pounds, so remember you are dispersing the negative, you are attracting the positive. Mirrors, emphasize artwork, emphasize plants, and emphasize beautiful things.

Whenever you put a mirror up, make sure it reflects something because it is an emphasis and perfectly it's an emphasis of something that you want. So, if you are looking for a relationship, have a mirror opposite to a couple artwork. If you are looking to grow your business, put a plant in front of a mirror, pick the areas that work for you.
