How To Fertilize Your Lawn

How To Fertilize Your Lawn - Dan and Mike, owners of their own lawn business, www.lawn.co.uk, show us how to fertilize a lawn.

Hi, I'm Mike, and this is Dan, and we're from the Lawn Company. We have a wealth of experience in looking after lawns, large and small. We're going to show you some handy tips on how to care for your lawn.

I'm going to show you how to fertilize your lawn. For this example, we've got a little rotary fertilizer spreader, which will allow us to fertilize this lawn evenly and quickly. The first thing is to find a suitable fertilizer product.

This is a granular spring and summer fertilizer. The next thing is we need to know the size of the lawn, so that we can apply the correct amount of product over that lawn. Pull out your kitchen scales and measure out sufficient fertilizer to put in the hopper so you've got about 30 grams per square meter.

Tip it in the applicator, and you're ready to go. Remember to always be walking before you open the fertilizer lever. Like mowing, do a couple of head longs.

This gives you a little bit of turning space. Make sure you get right up into the corners. Once you've done that, you can then follow your mowing lines.

At the end of the run, make sure you close the fertilizer spreader so that you don't end up with any excess product over the soil. Be also careful to match up your fertilizer lines as well. At the end of the task, if there's any fertilizer left in the hopper, just tip it back over into the drum so it's there ready for next time. .
