How To Field A Pop Fly
Follow VideoJug's simple steps to eliminate errors while catching high fly balls that drop down around the infield. Learn how to field a pop fly with VideoJug's help.
Step 1: Ready For Anything
Infielding starts with your "ready position". Get low to the ground with your knees bent and your glove ready. Distribute your weight evenly on the balls of your feet so that you can move as fast as possible in either direction.
Step 2: Get Under The Ball
Once the ball is hit into the air get underneath where it is going to land as quickly as possible. Run to that spot and try not to backpeddle so that your feet don't get tangled and you trip. Keep your arms extended and put your glove out ready to pull in the ball. Make sure that you let your teammates know that you are catching the ball.
Step 3: Pull It In
As the ball hits your glove pull it into your mit while covering the open side of your glove with your throwing hand so as to keep the ball from bobbling out.
Tips & Comments
its better if they have a righty eccept a lefty
Kind of odd they would have a left-handed person demonstrate this as the only left-handed infielders you might ever see would be a pitcher or first baseman.
