How To Field An Infield Ground Ball
Nothing will annoy your pitcher, teammates, and coaches like an easy out gone wrong. Follow these simple steps to eliminate errors while fielding infield ground balls in baseball.
Step 1: Ready For Anything
Get low to the ground with your knees bent and your glove ready. Distribute your weight evenly on the balls of your feet so that you can move in any direction necessary as fast as possible.
Step 2: Slide And Scoop
When the ball is hit get your body positioned in front of its path. Get down on the ball by placing your glove onto the ground with your throwing hand there to block any bad bumps. Most importantly keep the ball in front of you no matter what.
Step 3: The Human Hoover
Scoop the ball up with your mit while your hand guides and protects against bad bounces. Again, keep the ball in front of you, block it with anything you can.
Step 4: The Gun Show
Now square your body to your target and throw pure and true to first base.
