How To Fight Depression
Depression is a pervasive and often overwhelming mental illness faced by many adults today. Here, you will learn some simple changes you can make in your life to help you battle the negative symptoms of depression.
In this video, I'm going to tell you how to fight depression. First of all, identify what your depressing triggers are. When do you have those moments of depression? Is it when you're at home? Is it when you're at work? Is it when you're in the car? If possible, try to avoid these situations whilst you're working through this.
Listen to your language, and I'm including the thoughts that you think at the same time. We think thousands of thoughts every day, and the majority of them tend to be negative. What this does is it brings our levels of motivation and energy down, and our levels of depression up.
If you can start to change that language that you're saying to yourself, and even saying to other people about yourself, you can start to feel better immediately. For example, if you find that you're affected deeply by the weather, start to change your language. Rather than complaining about it being a rainy day, try and find the good things about it being a rainy day.
It's watering the flowers. It's making everything look vibrant and green. Instantly, you can change your perception about the world just by the language that you're using.
Make sure you're active for at least 30 minutes every day. If you can get out into a green space, even better. There are many studies that have shown that this helps to fight depression.
Watch your diet. Make sure that you're eating small amounts and often, of green, leafy vegetables, and obviously plenty of fruit and water. If you find that depression comes on when you've been, maybe, drinking more alcohol, it's time to cut that out completely.
Set yourself a realistic goal and vow to make one small step towards that goal every day. If you have something to work towards, some kind of direction, this can be very therapeutic. And that's how to fight depression. .
