How To Find A Good Dentist

Hi. I'm Brian Halverson and I'm a dentist. I've been in the practice for over 35 years and I have written a book about my principles on holistic dentistry and the book is called Good Teeth for Life.

In this video, I will discuss how to find a good dentist. I'm often asked this question, especially if my patients move away to a new area. My advice nearly all the time, is find a dentist who has generally been recommended by, say, the people in the area you are moving to or if you are looking for a dentist that specializes, say for example, in prevention, then seek out.

Again, ask questions to the locals in the area that you are moving to or if you are simply just wanting to change dentists, and also, then see what the practice actually provides. I mean if you are looking for prevention, then I would suggest looking at a practice that employs hygienists. Some practices do specialize in certain types of treatment.

It might be cosmetic work or surgery, so find out what the practice does. The idea of looking through a directory is really a bit like taking total potluck. So, get local advice, recommendations and, if necessary, even pop into the surgery, and just see how the staff are, if they are friendly and if they can tell you a lot about what goes on.

These days, a lot of practices have, or they should have, brochures explaining their treatment policy and what they can provide. Armed with this information, I sincerely hope that you find the dentist you require. .
