How to find a life balance? In this busy world, so many of us struggle to balance work, home life, socializing, personal development, relaxation, health, fitness, family and so on. So, how on earth do you find the happy medium that you can call balance? Let me share with you some coaching techniques that I hope will help you. First of all, understand that balance doesn't mean that all parts of your life are equal.
You will have times in your life when it's beneficial to focus on one part of your life over another. It's good to know that so you can gently explain to people in different parts of your life that this isn't your priority area at the moment. If you don't have time to go partying right now, it doesn't mean you never will.
Just that it's not your priority at the moment. Now, it's time for a list. Go grab yourself a sheet of paper and a pen and draw a line down the middle.
Tip two, priorities versus reality. In the left column, list all the areas of your life you consider to be important to you right now, listing the most important area of your life at the top and decreasing in importance. Take a moment to do this now, and pause the video if you need to.
Now, on the other side of the line, re-order the list from the left according to the amount of effort you invest into each area of your life, the most effort at the top and the least effort at the bottom. Compare the two lists and see what you notice. Are there any high priorities on the left that in reality, aren't treated as a priority? And finally, now comes the bit where we make the tough choices that will help you balance your life more effectively in the long run.
Look down your list and notice the main part where you're investing too much effort into a certain part of your life. Ask yourself, when do I need to say no to invest less effort here? Saying yes to too many things or to the wrong things is the biggest reason why many of us struggle in life balance. And often, it's particularly people we don't want to say no to, like their pushy books or the really friendly neighbour we don't like saying no.
But consider this, every time you are saying yes to them, you are saying no to one of your priorities because there's only limited amount of time in a day. So, what do you need to say no to, to give your priorities more emphasis and your life a more comfortable balance? This is just a very quick explanation of how to use coaching techniques to balance out your life. If you liked it, you'd definitely benefit from investigating these ideas more with one of the Ginger coaches.
