How To Find A Modelling Job

So, how to find a modelling job? Well, there's lots of ways to approach this. If you're with a modelling agency, you don't worry about it at all. You just make sure you're polite every time you phone up, ask for your castings the next day.

If you want to find your own work, there's many ways lots of girls are doing it now. Obviously, you have fabulous pictures and a portfolio. Maybe you're looking for work through Facebook.

That's where a lot of girls have now a separate model profile which is fine. And the way to deal with it is just be very professional on your outlook. So for instance, a model agency will get girls work because they've printed a book or they've got all the model cards and they send them out to photographers and that's how they tend to get their girls into a casting or get girls direct jobs.

It can work the same for you. If you want to get work direct, have your model card and send it out to the photographers you've worked with before, photographers that you know do other jobs. Maybe look at a model that gets a lot of work and see which photographers she's worked with and then find out their address or their studio, post the model cards off to them.

Always follow it through. Because no matter when we've cast people, when I've worked at TV companies or whether we're looking for girls at Miss Great Britain, sometimes you'll send photos through, but then you never follow it up. And a lot of these people, photographers, marketing directors, will have loads of cards of girls, but it's the girls that pick up the phone and say, "Did you get my card?" So make sure you're really polite and you follow it through.

The other thing you can do is, of course, you can make sure you have a database. And with your email account, whether it's Yahoo or hotmail, or whichever email provider you use, just make sure that every month, you email those photographers and say, "Hey, this month I've done this job, I did that job," and it's almost like you're doing your own marketing. So basically, if you want to get your own work, that's what you need to do.

You need to shout about yourself. You need to be proud of what you've done. Every time you get new images, make people aware of them and just be nice because everybody talks in this industry and you will get most of your work and you'll find it through word of mouth.
