How To Find Gerbils For Sale

In finding gerbils for sale, you have to make sure that the gerbils are happy and healthy. Here's where and how.

Hi, my name's Marie. I'm the deputy manager of the Small Animal Department at Wood Green Animal Shelters and I'm going to tell you how to care for gerbils. I'm going to tell you how to find a gerbil for sale.

By far, the best option is go to your local rescue shelter. There are hundreds of rescue shelters all across the country and in other countries as well, so do visit them. In many cases, they'll have at least 10, 15 gerbils looking for homes and they'll get both males, females, young and older gerbils, and all sorts of different colors as well.

Please do visit your local rescue shelter. When choosing a gerbil, make sure that you can see it in its environment, that it's active and it's got a really nice setup, and its diet has been healthy as well. Gerbils should always be homed in large 3-foot glass tanks filled with organic soil.

Gerbils who are housed in hamster cages and plastic type rotator cages are not suitable for them and often, they can be in fairly poor health conditions. So, make sure that you have the accommodation they've been in and the advice you're being given is correct to meet to this sort of setup. Gerbils should be alert, they should be active and their coat should appear really nice and shiny and smooth.

Gerbils' coats, if they appear really dry and stuck up and sticking out in quite different directions, it could be that they have some form of parasite. So, make sure you check this and that they are in good health before you decide to buy them. All good rescue shelters will have had their gerbils checked over by a vets, and the moment you've started to sort of handle them, and help you choose suitable gerbils to meet your family's needs.

Gerbils should always be homed in pairs or in small groups. They're social animals and they love moving around, scurrying, foraging for food and they often build a large nest under the ground and sleep together in the hours of the day. So as I've said, visit your local shelter, make sure that the gerbils are healthy, they're happy and they're active and they've got a really lovely setup, and that way, you'll be able to have really good conditioned gerbils for the future.

And that's how to buy gerbils. .
