It depends if it's another sibling that they have lost, or possibly a pet that they have had with them throughout their little lives.
It is very important that the therapist that you choose is used to working with children and not just a bereavement therapist because their style and approach will be far more beneficial to your child. Many good therapists with children try and make feel as though it is not therapy so the children actually feel as though they are just playing with somebody new. But the information that comes through helps the therapist to actually deal with the bereavement of the child.

And possibly as the mother or father of the child, it is ideal to have a long conversation with the therapist prior to your child starting the therapeutic process. .
