How To Find Personal Injury Lawyer

In the event of a personal injury, it's important to know your options whether to get a lawyer or not. This video will take you through how to find a personal injury lawyer.

My name is Martin Meenath from City Tutors Limited and I am a non-practicing barrister, lecturer and a tutor. Personal injuries are of course, one of the most traumatic things that can happen to an individual. Finding a lawyer sometimes compounds this injury.

It is easy to find personal injury lawyers if you know where to look. The first place, if you are unsure, is a law society. That's the body that regulates solicitors.

They maintain lists of those who are qualified to practice and details of what sort of things they specialize in. In addition, books which you can find in the public library like the Chamber's 500 or the Legal Practice 500 are well worth consulting. A Citizens Advice Bureau would also be useful.

Remember, litigation should really be a last resort, and if you do litigate, you have to prove that there was an injury which was done to you because another breached their duty in such a way to cause that injury. There is a lot of advertising about no win and no fee, there are a great many cases in the newspapers of people who have received a great deal of compensation, but you should be prepared to have a modest amount if you find the right lawyer and for the case to take time. If in doubt, you should consult your Citizens Advice Bureau before the law society.

If you do find a firm that you're interested in, they are often able to give you a free consultation. When they give you that consultation, there are certain questions you might wish to ask such as how much of a sort of work that you wish them to do or they have done, and also how long they have been qualified and how long they have been in business. Remember, probably qualified solicitors will have no trouble in telling you answers to these questions and you'd be able to double check with the law society if you are unsure.

The law has recently been changed so that you are expected to resolve your case within a year. Those are the ways that you can find a personal injury lawyer but remember, it's always a good idea to indicate the people whom you intend to sue that you have suffered an injury and see if they are willing to come to a settlement first. .
