Let me talk about how you want to get the results in your career. It's time I told you about how to find the right job. Most people find it really, really difficult, like what do I want to do with my life? What job do I want do that's going to give me a bit more than just pay the bills but I am actually going to enjoy? So, the place to start is often the wrong place for most people.

What qualifications do I have? What did I study at school? What am I good at? Really start with what light you up. What lights your fire! What really do you enjoy? What are you passionate about? What are the things that interest you? Start actually looking outside of work. Think about your interests and passions.

Write about yourself like a of page of A4, like my ideal working day, what is your skills, what are you really good on your skill sets, what are your strengths, you know, ask other people, what do they think your strengths are? Start with all those things of you as a person first, what you are passionate about, get really clear on those and then from there, you can start to look at how to start build your career out of that, if you do that way round, what I call the blank slates version, you are much more likely to send yourself on a career path that you can enjoy, find fulfilling and rewarding rather than wake up at forty and decide that you hate your life and want to start all over again. Once you're going to figure that out, you know what lights are firing, all of that personal bit is then matching up with first of all what you are good at, what are those skills, strengths and expertise and what you don't have yet, then you need to be abstruse, the kind of career you have chosen up, the kind of avenue you thought of pointing down from that self-exploration. So, focus on what you have got already, where are the gaps, where you need to learn, what you got to develop in order to do that job and then really start to then is about putting an action plan, getting into the step by step process of building the bridge from where you are now whatever work you are into your ideal job and your ideal career.

And that is a step by step process, for some people it may take six months to a year, for some people, it might take several years. But it's really worth doing it. You spend most of your life for work and what's the point if you hate it! That is not life! So, explore, get really clear, get some help, get some expertise and then start to build that bridge in a step by step work towards the career that you would like to be doing over a period of time and most importantly, don't give up.
