How To Fix 2 Red Lights On Xbox 360

A concise tutorial on the methods of fixing the "two red light freeze-up" on the Xbox 360 and a warning on possible issues that can result from self-repairing the Xbox 360.

Hi, I'm Rene Millman, editor of Absolute Gadgets and today, I'll be talking about the Xbox 360. In this video, we'll be showing you how to fix two red lights on the Xbox 360. Now, when you've powered up your Xbox and you fancy playing a game and two red lights come up on the console, then that's a more severe problem.

Really, what I would advise you to do is if it's under warranty, send it back to Microsoft and get it fixed by them because that is your right to do so and that would be the most appropriate measure. They will fix it for you and send it back. In the meantime, you can play on somebody else's Xbox or go for a walk in the park.

I don't know - it's up to you what you do there. But the most important thing to realize is if you're under warranty, get Microsoft to fix it. If it's not under warranty, it's probably a good idea to actually phone up Microsoft to see if they will repair it.

It will cost and if you balk at that particular cost, then there are qualified technicians that may be able to repair it for you and prolong the life of your Xbox but that's if that's the most appropriate advice for you. If you don't want to do that and you are feeling inquisitive as to what's causing the problem inside the Xbox, what you can do is open it up and remove the motherboard and underneath that are things called X-clamps which hold the motherboard to the base of the console. Just make sure that that's all tightened up, then fix the motherboard back up and put the Xbox back together, and you may find that that fixes the problem but it could also end up with you turning the Xbox into a brick and then you have to go and get a new Xbox console because the warranty may be void or you don't have a warranty anymore.

So that's how you could do that but I would always advise wherever possible, to see Microsoft and get it fixed by Microsoft or a qualified technician. And that's how you fix two red lights on the Xbox 360. .
