In this video, I am going to show you some common faults and problems with the iPods. They can develop any number of faults but most of them are usually fixable. So, some examples I have got here, and this one has a fault with the LCD, it can be caused through dropping or damaged but sometimes, this can happen on its own accord and you might get some lines or colored pixels on there.

It just needs a replacement LCD, essentially. This one is stuck at the charging screen; it's low power or no power at all. If you cannot get past this stage, it just needs a battery replacement.

This one has a cracked screen which is one of the most common repairs. It can be replaced and this one has a problem with the hard drive it starts to click. Before it stops working all together, you might see symptoms such as it starts skipping songs and songs might stop playing and noise from it that generally you have not heard before.

Now, some other problems you can get are, you can see a sad face or a red x. This is usually if there is a hard drive problem. If you get water damage, that can sometimes be fixed.

Broken or bent port can be replaced. Quite a lot, you will get one-sided sound through the headphones and sometimes, if you wiggle it about, it will skip from side to side. This just means you need a headphone jack replacement.

The home buttons also get stuck. This will come under the same sort of issue as the cracked screen where the whole front just gets replaced. The things to note about water damage is that most of the time, your iPod will be killed by the water, not because of the water that is on it, but because you have tried to switch it on too soon after it has been water damaged.

So, the recommending course of action really is to make sure the unit is off as soon as the water has hit it, and put it in an airing-cupboard for two to three weeks. Make sure it is fully dry after those two to three weeks and then try to switch it on. But preferably, you should send it into a specialist where they can open it up and dry it out properly and switch it on only when it is safe to do so.

So, those are common problems with iPods. Most of them can be fixed by our specialists. .
