What do you do when your computer is not connecting to the network, or websites aren't opening properly? Learn how to make your internet connection work properly by flushing the DNS.

Today, I am going to show you how to flush DNS. DNS is used by your computer as a reference book to find out where other computers are on the network and websites are. So, first of all, we will have a look to see what the DNS settings are for the computer.

So, we do this by going to the start and into the section here, I am typing cmd and this would bring up the command prompt. To have a look and see what the DNS settings are at the moment, we type ipconfig forward/all, press enter. We will look specifically at the connection here at the top one.

You will see that it has the DNS service here and they are labelled as 8.8.8.

8 which, in this case, Google's DNS servers. If that's blank or incorrect, that will cause a problem when you are trying to find webpages or other computers that are on the network. In order to flush the DNS and reset those settings, you will again type ipconfig forward/flush dns and press enter.

You see that it pops up a window that says that it has successfully flushed the DNS that means it has gone out, check the DNS, resolved the DNS and now has new DNS. So when you are trying to go to a website, you should now find it. I have shown you how to flush DNS, you should use this procedure when the computer is not connecting to the network properly or not finding websites.
