How To Fold A Hankerchief

Amy, the Visual Merchandiser of Britain's most popular retailer John Lewis explains how to properly fold a handkerchief in a multitude of ways.

Hi, I'm Amy and I'm a Visual Merchandiser in John Lewis on Oxford Street. Today, I'm going to show you how to fold a handkerchief. Now what we need to do is make sure that the handkerchief is laid out nice and flat and ideally we need to have had the handkerchief ironed before use.

This way we get a nice crisp edge when folding. So what we are going to do is bring each edge up to the top making sure that all of the points line up. Now if you do want a really crisp edge when folding, just make sure to press down firmly along the lines just like you are folding a piece of paper.

Again, what we do is bring them straight up through the middle and press down. Now I'm folding a rectangular handkerchief, so you have to fold once more through the middle and press down and then once again. Now, depending upon where you are storing the handkerchief you can leave it like this or fold it once more.

You can also fold handkerchiefs in a triangular way, or if you are travelling and short of space you can roll them to store as well. And that is how you fold a handkerchief. .
