Step 1:
-
The rose folded napkin:
-
OK, so this napkin here is called a rose and its very simple. Ideally you want as square a napkin as possible. All you're really doing is you're just folding triangles.
-
Step 2:
-
Fold triangles:
-
There's one triangle into the middle, the second one, just folding the edges there., and from the top, folding down the sides. So you want to take the top tip of the triangle and fold that into the middle again and just fold down the other triangle as well. Turn it around, and again its just folding triangles in the middle, fairly simple stuff. Press it down again, press it down, so now we've got a square again.
-
Step 3:
-
Flip and repeat:
-
We're going to flip it over now so just put your hand firmly in the center so that you're not going to have any folds fall out. Slide your hand underneath and you just want to flip it over like a pancake. Back to the square, and again, very simple, just folding triangles into the middle. Now you've got like a nice square again. The napkin needs to be well starched, if its not then the whole thing will just flop over and have no affect at all.
-
Step 4:
-
Pull out folds:
-
So that's all our folds from before, we're going to be pulling these out to create the actual rose. So what we'll do next, is with your fist here, we are going to pull out the corners now. What we'll do is these four corners first and those as well. you just go underneath and you just slightly tug on it, you just need to tug, it you don't have to pull it all the way. Now tug the other corner and tug the other corner and tug the other corner. And the same again, just the other side now, just tug them out slightly. This is where the starch comes into play. If this isn't starched everything would just flop over but it is nice and firm.
-
Step 5:
-
Complete:
-
And as you see all the folds have been pulled out and you've got a pretty little rose.
