How To Fold Silk Clothes

Hi. I'm Amy and I'm a Visual Merchandiser here at John Lewis in Oxford Street, and today I'm going to show you how to fold silk clothing. Now, for this example, I'm going to be folding a nice silk negligee.

Now, the first thing we want to do is just turn it, just on switch reverse, so it's flat and straight. And what we want to do is just make sure all the straps and everything is nice and neat and laid out; otherwise, any creases which are in it already will stay there in the folding. Now, what we need to do is just bring in both edges.

Now, it's a-line, which means it goes out at the sides, so do be aware that it will be thicker at the bottom that it is at the top. Now, if you are folding to give as a present, what I suggest is that you lay a nice piece of tissue paper through the middle and then that means that you will get a nice neat fold and it won't come unfolded so easily. Now, what we do is just bring up into the middle, bearing in mind that each piece is nice and flat, and then up once more.

Just tuck the straps back in. Just tuck it in, any little bits sticking out. And that is how you fold silk clothing.
