How To Forget The Past

How To Forget The Past

Susie Pearl from the Life Transformation Academy talks about how you can feel better about your life through positive thinking, and therefore have a happy life. Thinking of a bad past restrains people and never allows people's future to be better. She suggests that you make an agreement with yourself in which thoughts of the past will trigger you to think of something that you can think of every time negative things come up. You need to be in the present and consider the future to have a positive life and avoid focusing on the past.

How to forget the past? The past can wear away at us, and if you're thinking about bad stuff in the past, it can eat away. It can cause you bad feelings. It can stop you moving on in life.

And it can prevent you from taking new ideas or new relationships or new work, all sorts of things. Focusing on the past is not going to help you take new steps into your bright future. It's going to be blocking you and it can cause distress if you're focusing on negative stuff in the past.

So, it's a good thing to move on and into the present, or into the future. So, one way to forget the past, is to set up an agreement with yourself. Say to yourself, whenever your brain is going to start rerunning the movies about bad stuff that has happened in your life, you're going to flip out that image.

Tell yourself, I'm not going to do that. I'm not going to run those old movies from the past and bring yourself into the future, or bring yourself into the present. How do you do this? Set up ahead of time something that you're going to choose to think about whenever you run negative stuff from the past.

So, if for example, you've got a broken relationship, and you tend to go back into thinking about that and making yourself miserable, think of something that you're going to choose to focus on for now. It could be a new project you're doing, or a new point of focus on your life. So, think about what that is, and whenever you start rerunning that old movie, remind yourself immediately, and flip right in to this new idea you have about the present.

Don't spend time in the past unless you want to set up blocks in your life and live it all as if it was running in history. Running your life positively and getting a creative happy life is all about being the present and thinking about the future and making plan. So, spending time, hanging out in the past is often not the best thing.

It's simply a case of taking your attention off those past movies and putting your attention right back into the present and make sure that your present feels good. Make sure that wherever you're putting your attention is somewhere that's making you feel positive; it's making you feel happy; its making you feel excited. That's the route to having a happy life.
